Flake epoxy garage floors

A flake garage floor is an epoxy coating with colored flakes scattered into it while it is wet, then sealed under a clear coat. These are photos of our crew’s flake floors, finished and going down. For how the concrete is prepared and what the job asks of you, see epoxy garage floors. The estimate for your garage is free.

Finished floors

Every flake mix reads differently once the clear coat is on. The speckle hides dust and tire marks, and the gloss picks up the room. Flakes are sealed under the clear coat, so the surface is smooth to wipe but has a little texture underfoot.

While the coat goes down

Tape and paper protect the walls, the door threshold and anything we are not coating. The flakes are broadcast by hand into the wet coat.

Tape and paper hold the line at the threshold while the coat goes down.

Choosing a flake

  • Color. Blue, gray and white, gray and black, or a warmer tan mix. A darker, busier mix hides more.
  • Size. The sample board in one photo is labeled 1/4 inch. Ask to see the sample against your lighting.
  • Gloss. The clear coat on top sets how shiny the floor looks.
